Pacific Giant

Pacific or California giant salamanders grow to 12-13”, says Scientific American; this one, disturbed while making a new garden bed, was about 8”. They also apparently have “blade-sharp teeth,” which this one fortunately did not deploy when I rudely grabbed him/her. She seemed a little depressed, really. Understandable in someone who eats banana slugs. God love ’em.
